Literally just a few hours ago, Custom Line christened the first of its new 124-foot (37-meter) series, then launched her into the waters outside of its Ancona, Italy facility.
With naval architecture and interior design by Studio Zuccon International Project, the 124 has classic appeal due to the blue hull being paired with a white superstructure. Inside, there’s also a classic layout, with the four guest staterooms on the lower deck and the owner’s suite forward on the main deck. Because each 124’s layout can be customized to some degree, future clients may replace one of the guest staterooms with a gym or spa/massage room. They can also request fold-down terraces off the saloon and/or master suite.
Studio Zuccon International Project also collaborated with the Ferretti Group’s in-house naval architecture and engineering department, known as AYT (Advanced Yacht Technology), particularly for performance. To reduce roll upwards of 50 percent, the megayacht features a Mitsubishi ARG (Anti Rolling Gyro) system, which is exclusive to the Ferretti Group. Furthermore, sea trials reportedly prove this first Custom Line 124 is capable of a 27-knot top speed, thanks to twin 3,510-hp MTUs.
Whether the yacht is at that speed or at anchor, the owner and guests will enjoy the upper deck’s mix of sunning and dining spaces. It’s actually a split-level deck, separating the helm (crew) area from the relaxation (guest) area. Alternately, everyone can head down to the bow’s semi-circular seating area and sunpads.
Expect to see this yacht premiere at the Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes in September. Meanwhile, two additional 124s remain under construction, each also being under contract.
