Anyone who’s ever attended a launch can say that witnessing the moment in the photo above, when a megayacht first hits the water, is pretty special. That’s Mary-Jean II, a 60-meter (197-footer) sliding down the ways at ISA.
While the ceremony, in mid-May, was a private one, local officials from Ancona, Italy, were in attendance, as was the owners’ project-management team from Yachting Partners International. The brokerage house had the central listing for the owners’ previous yacht while she chartered, and then when she was for sale.
Mary-Jean II might also be made available for charter. If she does, she should attract interest, offering six guest staterooms and a decor with an increasingly popular element: teak soles throughout, instead of plentiful carpeting. Teak bulkheads and wenge accents are also used. Mark Berryman took an approach to the interior that’s similar to the one he did with Lürssen’s Arkley, using artwork and tactile elements like bamboo and limestone mosaics to invite guests to take a closer look (and even feel).
As for speed, Mary-Jean II should provide leisurely cruising at 15 knots, thanks to twin Caterpillar 3512Cs. Dialed back 1 knot, she should see a 2,700-nautical-mile range.
The owners will take delivery of Mary-Jean II in July and have the yacht on display with ISA at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show.
