After 14 months of construction, the first megayacht from Blue Coast Yachts was lifted and lowered into the water outside her build shed at H2X in France.
Christened Cartouche, the Blue Coast 95 is among the largest sailing catamarans in the world, measuring 95 feet (nearly 29 meters), with a beam of 39 feet (12 meters). She’s also reportedly the largest sailing catamaran with a fully automatic furling boom. (Her mast was not yet fitted when she was launched.) Designed by Coste Design & Partners, the Blue Coast 95 is further said to be a good cruiser under power, with a reported 15-knot top speed when the twin 425-Cummins engines are engaged.
Highlights of the design include accommodations for six guests besides the owners, who get a main-deck stateroom; one crew stateroom, since the yacht is intended to be handled by minimal crew; and the customary relaxation and dining areas spread among her three decks. Cartouche is strictly for private use, though Blue Coast Yachts does hope to sign orders for more yachts and says layouts can be changed for charter usage.
