Nearly every shipyard with a semicustom yacht line eventually introduces a model to bridge a gap in the lineup. Ferretti Custom Line is doing that with the new 100, but it’s also adding some features to make her distinct.
The all-fiberglass Ferretti Custom Line 100 will nicely complement the existing 97, 112 Next, and 124 megayacht models. The profile is intended to appeal to a younger demographic, in contrast to the more traditional lines of the other models. That’s especially true of the 97, which Ferretti Custom Line could have easily eliminated, given the similar sizes. But the yard wanted to preserve that model and its market share.
Set to debut next year, the Ferretti Custom Line 100 was designed jointly by Studio Zuccon International Project, AYT (Advanced Yacht Technology), and Centro Stile Ferrettigroup, the latter two being naval-architecture divisions within the Ferretti Group. Note the backward-Z-shape windows that wrap from the aft deck up around the raised pilothouse, plus the combination of triangular and oval glass forward and below. If an owner so wishes—and it’s hard to believe one wouldn’t—the starboard side of the saloon can feature a sliding glass door yielding access to the side deck. At anchor, the bulwark can fold down to form a balcony. You can get a better sense of it in the illustration below.
Another variation on the traditional layout for a yacht of this size: a truly full-beam master suite forward. The main deck is therefore not a walk-around design. Even with this, the crew is not left without full outdoor access to the gear at the bow. At the point where the side-deck windows rise up to the wheelhouse, the side decks themselves flow into a set of stairs, which in turn rise up to the second deck.
Not everything is different, of course. Four guest staterooms are below decks, benefiting from the large windows. Sunning space aplenty lies on the flying bridge, and a terrific breakfast/sundowners nook is at the bow. In keeping with the sporty profile, the Ferretti Custom Line 100 will have active performance: an anticipated 26-knot top end, powered by twin MTU engines.
