The weather was less than cooperative over the weekend in Germany, but nonetheless, Sapphire headed out for a series of sea trials.
Wrapping up construction at Nobiskrug, Sapphire measures 73.55 meters (242 feet). Exterior styling and interior design are both by Newcruise, with Metrica Interior also collaborating on the interior. (Newcruise is the same design house that fashioned Siren, another Nobiskrug delivery from 2008.) Interior features include a cinema, gym, and a “superior cabin” in addition to customary guest staterooms, for accommodations for 12 guests. Of special note: the transom styling, with twin stairs wrapping around each side and leading to a more than spacious swim platform/toy boarding area.
Cruise speed is expected to be 15 knots, with top speed at 17 knots, given twin 2,360-hp MTUs. Here are the first photos of Sapphire putting those engines to work.
