Here’s a sneak peek at what will eventually become the new flagship of the Mangusta line, the Mangusta 205.
Drawings are still preliminary, but Overmarine, her builder, is firm in its goal to remain the largest producer of open-style yachts and megayachts. There are presently eight Mangusta models from 72 to 165 feet LOA.
Measuring 62 meters (203 feet), the Mangusta 205 will be among the fastest in her size range, regardless of builder. Top speed under half load is expected to be about 30 knots. Power comes courtesy of triple 4,600-hp MTU diesels, coupled to KaMeWa waterjets. Running on just two of the engines, the Mangusta 205 should cruise around 20 knots, still impressive for her LOA. At that speed, range should be about 850 nautical miles.
To be built to ABS and MCA requirements, the Mangusta 205 will accommodate 12 guests and 12 crewmembers. Naturally the master stateroom will be forward on the main deck, with guest staterooms all below. Owners have a choice of either four or five cabins here, further outfitted with a variety of berths, including pullmans. As with other Mangustas, owners will be able to put their imprint on the interior. They can do so in collaboration with Overmarine’s staff or through their own designer.
The 11.4-meter (27-foot) beam should make owners and their guests feel pretty comfortable regardless of how the yacht is outfitted. Some other things they’ll appreciate: a transom beach club with a bar and seating, plus space for lounge chairs to be set up when the transom folds down. Further features: expansive foredeck seating and sunning areas. Being an open yacht, the Mangusta 205 also devotes plenty of flying bridge space to teak-decked lounging and dining. Possibilities up here include an expanse of sunpads aft and a bar forward.
Take a good look at the arch in the profile drawing, and you’ll see another possible idea. There’s an aerie-like additional helm station. Talk about a bird’s-eye view…

Certainly an impressive looking machine and I love the beach club idea at the transom. I would have thought that 12 guests will be pretty comfortable in 205′ of length! Far removed from the Mangusta’s of old. I look forward to seeing a finished product.

That looks pretty special to say the least. Can’t wait to see one.
