While construction only recently started, the 66-meter (217-footer) that Delta Marine has underway for an American family marks its second-largest project to date.
Besides the sheer size, Project 211042 (no name has been revealed) is remarkable for a few reasons. She’ll have an ice-strengthened steel hull, as world cruising will be in the plans. Indeed, the owners plan to put the anticipated 5,000-nautical-mile range at 12 knots to the test. It comes courtesy of twin Caterpillar 3516 diesel engines and a fuel capacity exceeding 50,000 gallons. Top speed should be just shy of 17 knots.
Even with the metal hull, Delta is remaining true to its fiberglass roots. As such, this megayacht will feature a composite superstructure. The rendering here shows classic lines with subtle flair. The styling, plus all engineering and space planning, is being done in-house, by the Delta Design Group.
More remarkable features lie inside, where the Delta Design Group is working in conjunction with Diane Johnson Design, a California-based interior designer. All six guest staterooms will be on the main deck, forward of the saloon and a private cinema. That entire deck is lined with nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, which should make for dramatic views and bright spaces. The 8’4” maximum headroom is the proverbial cherry on top of the sundae.
For the ultimate retreat, the master suite occupies all of the deck above. The rendering here reveals the private alfresco area the owners will have, which their stateroom will overlook (that is, if the owners can tear their attention away from the beauty of the anchorage…). The suite further features an office and saloon.
Since the yacht isn’t set for delivery until 2013, some interior features are yet to be determined. Even with that, however, expect things like fluted columns and raised-panel woodwork. In addition, the owners were absolutely certain of one thing: Flexibility in arrangements was a must. The owners may have just a few friends and family with them one week, for example, and then entertain big groups another week. Therefore, several spaces throughout the decks will be set up to transform according to need. Pantries will be on each deck, too, to make the crew’s job easier.
The overhead cranes in the tender garage will also make the crew’s job easier. They’ll launch and retrieve PWCs, inflatables, and a custom 28-foot with Italian-inspired styling. All tenders and toys will deploy via side doors. This allows the transom to serve as a beach club for the owners and their guests. It includes a bar, a sauna, and a handy day head.
