If you’ve ever witnessed a yacht taking her first taste of salt water, no doubt you agree it’s a sight to see. Even the most gentle entry into the water results in a big wall of water being pushed astern, in dramatic fashion. From that first splash to the last righting movement, the event elicits plenty of cheers and applause, whether from the shipyard staff who’ve gathered to assist or the owner’s party who’ve gathered to witness history in the making.
So imagine the cheers and applause at Lürssen a few days ago when one of its projects, known for now under the code name Bellissimo, slid down the ways. The slideshow below gives you a sense of how she emerged from her build shed, entered the water, and then was towed to her finishing shed.
It will be about another 18 months before the 88-meter (289-footer) is completed. For now, we can reveal that the yacht bears the styling touches of Nuvolari-Lenard. Despite the superstructure and hull only being joined about a month ago, you can still get a sense of how she’ll showcase the design team’s signature looks.
