Some people believe the Chinese are still a long way off from buying megayachts, but not Feadship. The Dutch builder recently signed a contract for a 146’6” (44.65-meter) megayacht somewhat similar to its F45 series, but with more customization.
The F45 series was the starting point because the client saw Helix, the most recent launch in the series. Helix kicked off a promotional tour of Asian waters several weeks ago, beginning with the Hainan Rendezvous in April.
While the new megayacht will be the same length as Helix, she’ll further feature a helipad. Details are not yet available on the interior decor, though design will be by Bannenberg & Rowell and Sinot Yacht Design. Twelve people including the owner will be accommodated, with two guests housed in the owner’s lounge. The other eight guests will get four cabins, presumably on the main deck. They’ll benefit the most from the 30’2” (9.2-meter) beam. Eight crewmembers plus the captain will attend to their needs.
Like all prior Feadship megayachts, naval architecture is being provided by De Voogt Naval Architects. Sinot Yacht Design is also contributing some styling elements, as it has done with the F45 series. The yacht is engineered for transatlantic cruising and a reported top speed of 14½ knots. She’ll be powered by twin 1,055-hp MTUs and feature an 8’10” (2.7-meter) draft.
Because the owner wishes to take delivery before the Chinese New Year next year, which is in February, Feadship has already begun construction.
In the meantime, Helix is continuing her Asia tour and available for sale from Feadship. You can take a virtual tour by checking out her video as our March 2012 Motoryacht of the Month.
