Hodgdon Yachts Hull 413 may not be a megayacht, but she’ll be aboard one. She’s a custom limo tender, the shipyard’s third to date, measuring 34 feet (10.5 meters).
The limo tender bears design work by Michael Peters Yacht Design, which joined forces with Hodgdon Yachts last year for a full lineup of projects like this. Beam is 9’7” (2.97 meters), and as the photos here show, she’s outfitted sumptuously with leather seating (water-resistant, thankfully) and a teak sole. Other features include a handy head and a hydraulically raising roof, ideal for sunny days or starry nights. The tinted side windows further retract, when so desired; of course, air conditioning pumps through the interior as well. For a day of island or harbor hopping, the limo tender has a reported 34-knot top end at half load, thanks to a single Volvo Penta engine.
Hodgdon Yachts constructs each custom limo tender of fiberglass and carbon fiber but leaves outfitting up to owners. The tender’s exterior can match the megayacht she’ll accompany, too, through paint and graphics. If owners so wish, a tender can even be an entirely one-off design, from the initial sketches to every small detail.
The megayacht this Hodgdon limo tender is joining is confirmed as an Oceanco, so that likely means Y708, which is expected for delivery by year’s end. She’ll be the second Oceanco to feature a Hodgdon custom limo tender; the first was Seven Seas.
A third Oceanco megayacht is a few months away from getting yet another Hodgdon Yachts-Michael Peters limo tender, presently under construction. Two additional limo tenders are being built for delivery next year as well, penned by Andrew Winch Designs for an undisclosed yacht at a European yard. Hodgdon Yachts further has some megayacht projects underway, but confidentiality agreements prevent details from being released.
Here’s more of the recently delivered tender.
