December 2012 Sailing Yacht of the Month: Alloy Yachts’ Red Dragon

Delivered in 2008, Red Dragon is among the performance-oriented superyacht sloops from frequent collaborators Alloy Yachts and Dubois Naval Architects. At 169’8” (51.77 meters), with a nearly plumb bow and a low coachroof, she cuts a sleek profile. Red Dragon is intended for long-range cruising, having a reported 5,000-nautical-mile range at 12 knots. Red Dragon’s owner, Guy Ullens, an experienced yachtsman and avid art collector, has called her “a work of art.” This video showcases her sculptured looks, her 27,000-square-foot (2,500-square-meter) sail area, and her signature anthracite-painted hull, accented with a red stripe.
