A megayacht launch is a must-not-miss event, so why not christen your yacht Event? That’s what the owner of the first Amels 199 did.
Technically, Laura Sessa Romboli, the interior designer, did the actual christening of Event, an invitation extended by the owner of the 197-footer (60-meter) megayacht. No images have been released of Event’s interior, but it’s said to complement the unconventional looks, like the vertical bow and round ports, of Tim Heywood’s exterior styling. The video below, created by Amels for the Limited Editions Amels 199 series, gives you an idea of what’s possible.
Event has a 33’8” (10.3-meter) beam and accommodations for 12 in the owner’s party, though there are an additional two berths should the need arise. A crew of 14, plus the captain, will tend to guests and guide Event as she makes her maiden voyage to Norway in a few weeks. They’ll also cater to charter guests this summer in the Med. Event is meant for leisurely cruising, with a top speed of 16½ knots and a range of 5,000-nautical-miles at 13 knots.
Look for Event to make her boat-show debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, too.
