The latest 180-footer (55-meter) megayacht to emerge from Benetti’s build sheds is Ocean Paradise. She made her formal debut at the Azimut-Benetti Group annual gala in late June, in which clients of the two yacht divisions are invited to attend dinners, see the latest models, and more.
Plenty of yacht names hint at what the yachts themselves are all about, and Ocean Paradise is no exception. Neither do her design and layout leave doubt as to what her Singapore-based owner envisioned, that being as much of a connection to the great outdoors as possible. To that end, Ocean Paradise is characterized by floor-to-ceiling windows on the main deck (below), a skylight, a master-suite balcony, and a beach club.
There are a number of other special features aboard Ocean Paradise, too, thanks to the owner’s close involvement with Benetti’s in-house team in the design and execution. The sundeck’s pool includes a waterfall (below), and a few steps away you’ll find a bar that doubles as a DJ booth. LEDs are used throughout the megayacht, and in some areas they color coordinate to the natural light streaming in through ports. The owner himself personally selected everything from light switches to the leather enrobing the wheelhouse’s helm and even to his dressing area’s door handles—the latter designed by the winner of a competition, no less. A variety of plants are incorporated into a Zen garden, too. For the beach club, rather than simply have the transom fold down, the owner and Benetti added opening side sections, too. The arrangement is such that the owner and guests (housed in four staterooms below decks) can enjoy the atmosphere away from tenders and toys being launched and tied up for boarding.
Of course, from a technical standpoint, Ocean Paradise is built in keeping with Benetti’s typical approach to steel displacement yachts. Twin Caterpillar diesels should permit a best cruise of 12 knots, which translates to a 4,000-nautical-mile range. The 710-gross-ton megayacht should top out at 17 knots. In addition, Benetti’s proprietary BEST system, which controls lighting, air conditioning, and more, is aboard.
Ocean Paradise, which will also be available for charter, will be available for viewing at the Monaco Yacht Show in September. We’ll have a Megayacht News Onboard feature on this Benetti following the show.
