Monday marked the launch of the first Sunreef 80 Carbon Line, built by Sunreef Yachts.
This new model in Sunreef’s performance sailing series is named the 80 Carbon Line, due to her nearly 80-foot LOA (78’7”, or 23.99 meters) and her construction, the latter of which includes carbon fiber. In conjunction with fiberglass and PVC foam, the carbon fiber keeps weight down. Otherwise the Sunreef 80 Carbon Line shares many of the same attributes as other Sunreef sailing catamarans, those being crisp, modern lines, voluminous interiors, alfresco dining and sunning, and custom interiors.
As for the interior, the European owners of this megayacht requested white and grey tones as a backdrop against pops of bolder colors. The treatment extends throughout the 38-foot-beam (11.6-meter-beam) yacht, from the main-deck master suite to the guest staterooms in each hull. There’s a kid’s cabin and a guest stateroom in the starboard side hull, while another guest stateroom joins the crew accommodations for four and the galley in the port one.
The main-deck location of the master suite is a first for a single-level Sunreef megayacht project. Previously, main-deck masters were only on its Double Deck series of catamarans. The Sunreef 80 Carbon Line can devote good space forward and to starboard to the owners, solely for relaxation. The reason it’s solely for relaxation: The dressing area and master bath are tucked in the starboard hull.
Sunreef inked a deal for this first Sunreef 80 Carbon Line in early 2012. Though performance figures are not yet available, as sea trials are ongoing, the sail area is nearly 3,660 square feet (340 square meters).
