Jongert revealed late last week that it’s building “a true Jongert” sailing yacht. Outside of the teaser video embedded here, the Dutch builder is keeping details quiet, at least for a little while longer.
Jongert will only say for now that the new sailing yacht is sleek and capable of both world cruising and regatta racing. There are no details on LOA, or whether the yacht is even a superyacht or a smaller boat.
Even with the mystery, the new yacht sounds like an evolution of a model restructuring that Jongert undertook about two years ago. Just prior to the Monaco Yacht Show in 2011, Jongert announced that it would focus on both performance- and cruising-oriented yachts. Within each category, Jongert further decided to add a series. The performance category gained what Jongert calls the P Line, which builds on its more established Modern Line. The P Line is targeted to owners who enjoy regattas yet still want a comfortable cruiser. As for the cruising-oriented yachts, Jongert added the Cruiser Line to its established Traditional Line. The Cruiser Line is largely based on the Traditional Line, bolstered by more interior space. Yet, she still is targeted to buyers who indulge in bluewater sailing, especially if they’re adventurous.
Jongert promises to reveal all come January. In the meantime, watch the teaser it put together.
