The eagerly awaited Sunseeker 155 Yacht is days away from slipping into the water for the first time. If you read the British papers, you could be excused for thinking the excitement is solely over the owner. He’s Eddie Jordan, a Formula 1 racing analyst. Jordan also happens to be a repeat client of Sunseeker. But in yachting circles, there’s a bigger story.
The Sunseeker 155 Yacht is the new flagship of the UK builder. She’s the largest megayacht that Sunseeker offers, eclipsing the 40 Metre model. And, the Sunseeker 155 Yacht makes Sunseeker the only production builder worldwide offering models from 50 to 155 feet (12.2 to 47.2 meters) under one brand name.
The Sunseeker 155 Yacht was maneuvered out of her build shed late last week. As the photos show, she did not yet have her hardtop or mast. The height of the shed prevented the pairing from occurring under cover. Once fully assembled, the Sunseeker 155 Yacht will head out for sea trials. The megayacht is expected to reach a maximum 22-knot speed. The engine package: twin MTU 12V 4000 M73Ls.
The all-fiberglass Sunseeker 155 Yacht has several attractive amenities. There’s a side-launching tender stowed in a garage just aft of the engine room. Balconies lower from both the upper deck (each side) and main deck (starboard side only). The upper-deck balconies flank the formal dining area. There’s additionally a fixed balcony off the main-deck master. Further interesting to note: two guest staterooms just aft of the master. A total of 10 in the owner’s party and 11 crew can stay aboard. With a beam of nearly 31 feet (9.34 meters), the Sunseeker 155 Yacht should be plenty comfortable.
Expect this first Sunseeker 155 Yacht to be exhibited at some of the autumn boat shows. A second Sunseeker 155 Yacht is on order for another client.
We’ll have more photos when the megayacht makes her way into the water. In the meantime, watch this video to see how Sunseeker carefully took the yacht from the inside of the build shed out to the launch platform.
