Dyna Craft, a Taiwan-based builder of all-fiberglass yachts, has a new flagship, the D105. It marks the shipyard’s first megayacht model in excess of 100 feet (30.48 meters).
The Dyna Craft lineup starts at 55 feet (15.55 meters) and offers full customization regardless of LOA. That’s been a guiding principle since the shipyard was established in 1986. It’s also what attracted the owner of the D105 to Dyna Craft.
One of the most important items for the owner of the D105 was speed. He also wanted to cruise the long distances that characterize East Asian waters. Considering the D105 was engineered to achieve a reported 34-knot top end, Dyna Craft delivered on his first wish. That speed, and a reported 30-knot cruise, come from triple 2,600-hp MTUs. Of course, few owners ever run at full speed for long periods. So, throttled back to a more leisurely 9 to 13 knots, the D105 should allow more fuel-efficient cruising. (Dyna Craft has not specified the range at those speeds.)
Dyna Craft clients typically select woods like cherry, maple, and mahogany for their yacht’s interior. The shipyard has not divulged what the owner of the D105 chose. However, he did request two twin guest staterooms and a VIP, plus crew’s quarters for four. The main deck of the D105 follows a familiar layout as well, with the galley forward of the saloon. Similar to some of the sleek superyachts from European builders, Dyna Craft gave the D105 a sizable foredeck area for entertaining. The owner can further entertain guests on the aft deck, which is also pretty spacious, or on the flying bridge.
Dyna Craft will continue to build smaller projects, but it’s also remaining focused on the megayacht market. Besides the D105, it has the D85 and D95. In addition, Dyna Craft says it can build larger custom yachts.
