Taking a cue from its famed Silver series of megayachts, Hanseatic Marine is now known as Silver Yachts.
The Australian shipyard gained fame in 2007 with the launch of the first of the Silver series, the 240-foot (73.3-meter) Silver. Silver Zwei, nearly the same length, followed a year later. Third in the series, the 252’6” Smeralda was handed over in 2012. All bear the design work of Espen Øino, with quite slender hulls engineered for high performance and low fuel consumption.
Silver Yachts remains committed to working with Øino and producing custom megayachts emphasizing efficiency and speed. The builder further plans to continue constructing its projects in compliance with SOLAS. (While Smeralda does not officially hold a SOLAS certificate, Silver and Silver Zwei each do.) It also remains committed to the Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss), whose ranks it joined in 2012.
Silver Yachts currently has Silver Fast, shown at top, under construction. The 252’6” (77-meter) megayacht should see a nearly 30-knot top end. Even at “just” 18 knots, Silver Fast should also see a 4,500-nautical-mile range. Most megayachts in her size range top out at that speed and achieve transatlantic range at a few knots slower. Delivery is set for 2015. Also in the early engineering stages is Silver Loft, above. The expedition-like, 272’3” (83-meter) Silver Loft has a different hull design than the previous Silver Yachts projects. However, Silver Yachts says Silver Loft will be even more fuel-efficient and gain better performance. We’re awaiting further details, which should be available when construction starts.
