Construction is wrapping up on the Yacht Club Marina, part of the Palmas del Mar resort in Puerto Rico. Opening in May, the marina is keen to attract both permanent and transient megayachts. The Yacht Club Marina will also officially make Palmas del Mar the first resort-marina on the island.
Palmas del Mar is in Humacao, on the island’s east coast. It’s about 45 minutes from San Juan and spans 2,700 acres. As for the Yacht Club Marina, it accommodates 158 yachts and megayachts. Slips are for yachts 50 feet (15.24 meters) and larger. Of the 158, 40 are for transient yachts to 175 feet (53.34 meters). Free wifi is available regardless of LOA. Yacht owners, captains, and immediate family members have exclusive use of a pool and tiki bar, too.
Several other services make the Yacht Club Marina an attractive option. Customs and immigration assistance is available, for example. Given Puerto Rico’s proximity to other Caribbean islands, this is good for American and non-American visitors alike. For convenience, golf carts are provided to get around the Palmas del Mar resort. The resort includes two golf courses, a grocery store, a tennis center, an equestrian center, and of course restaurants. There’s also a Four Points Sheraton hotel with a casino.
For security, all of the concrete docks have gates from land access points. Furthermore, there is a manned gate at the Yacht Club Marina entrance at night. Of course, staff is also on site during the day.
The Yacht Club Marina offers long-term slip leases and memberships. Besides access to the above amenities, membership affords concierge services. Trips to El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. forest system, can be arranged. Furthermore, there is complimentary in-slip fueling and pump out. A boatyard with a 100-ton lift is on the property as well.
