They’re preliminary sketches, but this look at the Sunseeker 168 Sport Yacht leaves no doubt that the British builder has bold plans.
Set for delivery in 2017, the 168 Sport Yacht will eclipse the 155 Yacht as Sunseeker’s flagship. She’ll also be the sixth model in the British builder’s Sport Yacht series. It’s worth noting that four of the current five models in that series are megayachts.
Scant details are available about the 168 Sport Yacht. Sunseeker does say that interiors will be available for customization. (The yard actually refers to the megayacht as a custom project, but the Sport Yacht styling seems fixed.) It’s easy to imagine a buyer requesting a main-deck owner’s suite. It’s also easy to imagine either sliding doors off the saloon sides or fold-down balconies. After all, the 155 Yacht has the latter, as do many similar-size megayachts, and the 130 Sport Yacht has sliding doors. Other Sport Yacht models have sunroofs within their hardtops, so perhaps the 168 Sport Yacht will follow suit. Sunseeker plans to roll out more images and information, especially via its social media channels, in the coming weeks. As of this writing, the 168 Sport Yacht isn’t even featured on its own website.
For now, Sunseeker promises that the 168 Sport Yacht will pack a performance punch. At least one engine package should permit a top end of 25 knots. (No information is available on the hp or engine make. However, Sunseeker has long employed MTUs.) Best range should be 4,000 miles.
Sean Robertson, Sunseeker International sales director, says, “Words cannot capture how excited we all are to be building such an awe-inspiring Sport Yacht so quickly after the launch of our majestic 155 Yacht.”
Speaking of the 155 Yacht, her owner, Eddie Jordan, a longtime Sunseeker customer and Formula 1 mogul, could (emphasis on could) be the first buyer of the 168 Sport Yacht. Jordan has made a practice of purchasing hull number one when a few Sunseeker models were introduced. Stay tuned.
