Bahamas-based Atlantis will become a Marriott property this fall. The ocean-themed resort includes The Marina at Atlantis, among the top facilities for large yachts in The Bahamas.
The Marina at Atlantis has 63 megayacht slips. It can accommodate power and sail projects alike to 240 feet (73 meters). There’s unrestricted mast-height access for sailing yachts. There’s also no beam restrictions if you tie up at the side-to berths. The largest of the traditional slips can accommodate megayachts with a 35-foot (10.7-meter) beam. Further helpful, the 100-foot-wide (30.5-meters-wide) channel on the approach to The Marina at Atlantis and the marina basin itself have a minimum depth of 12 feet (3.7 meters) at low tide.
The Marina at Atlantis guests have long been entitled to use the services of the resort. That policy should remain in place once Marriott takes over. It includes 24-hour room service straight to the dock, should you wish to give your chef the night off. Transportation to and from the marina and resort is provided, as is tie-up assistance for arrivals and departures. And, of course, The Marina at Atlantis has 24-hour security. The Atlantis resort further has 3,400 rooms, 40 restaurants and bars, luxury boutiques and shops, a casino, plus fresh- and saltwater lagoons, pools, and habitats.
Marriott has signed a long-term franchise agreement with Atlantis. It will further provide a $100-million mezzanine loan to the property. (A mezzanine loan is a combination of debt and equity financing, typically found in commercial real estate, for a project completion or to expand a company’s liquidity.)
Atlantis will be part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The Collection brings together upscale and luxury independent hotels. They’re iconic properties around the world that target travelers who want an alternative to typical chain hotels. It’s worth noting that according to Marriott, nearly 25 percent of its overall development projects are in the luxury and lifestyle category. Atlantis will be the first Autograph Collection resort in The Bahamas, and the first with a megayacht marina.
