A five-year-old Dutch builder is keen on attracting American buyers with its latest offering. The Cooper 800, by Cooper Yacht, is being marketed as a yacht tender and a trailerable dayboat.
Cooper Yacht has been selling powerboats, tenders, and sailboats to European buyers as well as ones from the UK, Australia, and Asia. America, being the largest market globally, was a natural step. The Cooper 800 is premiering at this week’s Annapolis Power Boat Show and sold via Cooper Yacht USA’s base in Maryland. Like the other models from the builder, the Cooper 800 is designed in-house, built of fiberglass.
The 27’4” (8.35-meter) Cooper 800 can carry 10 people. It’s suited equally as a watersports platform and a guest tender. Beam is 7’7” (2.35 meters), and vertical clearance is 3’6” (1.1 meters), which should suit a variety of tender garages. Weight is 4,299 pounds (1,950 kilograms).
Cooper Yacht offers a variety of Yanmar engines from 29 hp to 125 hp for the Cooper 800. The standard 54-hp Yanmar reportedly permits a 16-knot speed and 1.1-gph fuel consumption. The builder says 24 knots is possible with the largest engine package.
Other standard features include an anchor, a portable MSD in the front compartment, sunpads fore and aft, and teak on the topsides, the sole, and engine cover. The Cooper 800 also comes with a fold-away bimini, stowed aft, much like a car’s convertible top. Its frame is stainless steel, and it additionally has zip-out, clear side panels.
Buyers can opt for a variety of add-ons, such as a shower nozzle aft, a center table, and a refrigerator. You can also choose white, black, brown, or tan for the all-vinyl cushions and matching sunpads.
All Cooper 800 tenders sold stateside are ABYC certified.
