On the heels of revealing an explorer design, Cerri is broadening its horizons even more with a Navetta series from the drawing boards of Design Studio Spadolini.
Cerri made a name for itself with its aptly named Flyingsport yachts: flying-bridge-equipped, sleek cruisers. They’re constructed of composite. Last month the Italian yard announced the expedition series Phileas, in metal. Similarly, the Navetta series will be built in metal. So far a Navetta 24 and Navetta 35 (79- and 115-footers, respectively) are being offered, either entirely in aluminum or with steel hulls.
The materials of choice aren’t the only surprises behind the Navetta series. Tommaso Spadolini of the eponymous design firm strove to provide the voluminous feel and layout benefits of larger megayachts within the confines of “small” ones. That’s why the Navetta 35 (above) has two VIP staterooms along with the master on the main deck. This necessitated moving the galley below decks, into the crew area, where there are two cabins. Two more VIPs are below decks as well. For long-distance travels, the Navetta 35 also has a dedicated cold room in the crew’s quarters. Yet another big-boat feature: separate stairways for guests and crew. It’s further rare to see a captain’s cabin aft of the wheelhouse on a yacht of this size. Finally, making the skylounge and below-deck areas bright, the trideck Navetta 35 has a skylight.
Of course, the Navetta 35 has the features we’ve come to expect. These include a sundeck (measuring about 366 square feet, or 34 square meters). Buyers can request a hot tub accompany the seating and sunning areas. And, the tender stows in a garage, the latter of which forms a large swim platform when open.
“Navetta” calls to mind a leisurely cruising craft, and the Navetta 35 follows suit. Cerri anticipates a top end of 14 knots and cruise speed of 12 knots under Caterpillar power. MTU engines are optional.
The Navetta 24 has similar sunning and relaxing features. Cerri and Design Studio Spadolini have given her a full-beam interior. That permits about a 431-square-foot (40-square-meter) saloon. The galley comes back to the main deck on the Navetta 24, though, and all guests go below decks. The master stateroom remains on the main deck, however.
