Following the introduction of the all-aluminum Yara series last fall, ISA Yachts is providing further details on the Yara 48.
Back then, ISA Yachts revealed it planned to build two models, a Yara 44 and Yara 48. Both employ the Fast Displacement Hull Form developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. This hull design is proven to consume less fuel throughout the full speed range compared to traditional displacement and semi-displacement hulls. ISA Yachts wanted Van Oossanen’s expertise to appeal to clients wanting good turns of speed without compromising fuel efficiency or range. ISA Yachts also turned to Omega Architects for styling to ensure sporty appeal and for the general arrangement to offer more usable space than is customary.
The Yara 48 measures 157 feet (47.78 meters). Based on Van Oossanen’s initial calculations, top speed should be 24 to 30 knots, depending on the engines. ISA Yachts is offering three powerplant options:
Look again at the range calculations for the Yara 48. These are longer distances at higher speeds than comparably sized yachts with either displacement or semi-displacement hulls achieve. Add in a skinny-water-friendly 7-foot (2.16-meter) draft, and a number of cruising regions are at your disposal.
To make the cruising experience even more enjoyable, ISA Yachts asked Omega Architects to boost usable deck space by 50 percent. The 29-foot (8.85-meter) beam is perhaps put to best use in the main-deck saloon and dining area. Similar to the Yara 44, the Yara 48 has a series of sliding and folding, full-height glass doors in both rooms. (On a related side note, two-thirds of the ports aboard the Yara 48 are full height, complemented by lower bulwarks wherever possible.) The animation below gives you a good idea of how the changeable configurations augment usable areas:
Note, too, how there’s sliding glass between the dining area and saloon. From either room, you’ll have uninterrupted views out over the transom. That’s because the hot tub outside is nearly flush with the deck.
Other notable areas aboard the Yara 48 include the sauna- and bar-equipped beach club and sundeck. A hot tub takes center stage on the latter level, beneath the mast. Dining, lounging space, and a bar all provide great conversation areas, too. All also benefit from better views, due to glass windscreens rimming the full deck.
The Yara 48 accommodates 10 in the owner’s party in four guest staterooms (two being VIPs) below and a full-beam main-deck master. ISA Yachts and Omega Architects have planned a better-than-average-size crew’s quarters, too, which includes the galley.
