The largest of the Truly Classic sailing superyacht series, Atalante is in the midst of having her mast stepped and final outfitting completed. She’s enjoying her first tastes of salt water outside of Claasen Shipyards.
Atalante is termed a Truly Classic 127 due to her LOA, which is just over 127 feet (38.8 meters). She’s the second Truly Classic for her owners, who previously cruised aboard a same-name Truly Classic 90. That superyacht was also built by Claasen Shipyards.
All Truly Classics are penned by Hoek Design, and judging from the exterior profile, it’s easy to see where the model designation comes from. She should strike quite the impression when racing in The Superyacht Cup or other events, which are on her owners’ itinerary. The same should hold true when Atalante is enjoying private cruises, too. While we don’t have details on the sailplan area, the mast of Atalante rises about 158 feet (48.3 meters) high.
Something sure to be put to good use during the latter: the owners’ cockpit aft. This lets Atalante provide a nice amount of privacy when others are aboard. (Guests get a dedicated cockpit forward.) Even if the owners are only accompanied by the crew, it’s a convenient extension of the master suite, within its own deckhouse. The same holds true for the full-beam (25’3”, or 7.7-meter) saloon just forward of the suite.
That saloon and other interior spaces aboard Atalante are infused with traditional charm. Picture wainscots with white-painted panels above them, and raised paneling overall. Hoek Design has been working with the owners to execute this look, too, along with other time-honored touches.
