Call her rugged, even militaristic, in styling. No matter the adjective, Atlante marked a milestone at CRN this weekend. She was the 134th yacht that the Italian yard has slid down the ways to date.
The 180’4” (55-meter), five-deck megayacht was rolled out of her build shed in April, and launched during a private ceremony on Saturday. CRN isn’t revealing much about Atlante at this point. She bears interior design by its in-house department and Gilles & Boissier, a French firm. No information on decor or special accommodations is yet known. We do know, however, that Atlante features exterior design by Nuvolari-Lenard. The design firm has previously collaborated with CRN on a few projects, some larger and some smaller.
Dan Lenard of Nuvolari-Lenard says that the owner of Atlante wanted the yacht to look aggressive yet still, of course, feature customary relaxation concepts. As he puts it, “This is a high-impact yacht, whose determined military look becomes soft on the sea.”
So, how did Nuvolari-Lenard soften the overall look? Well, when’s the last time you saw fold-open platforms for fun on a rough-and-tumble vessel? Atlante features opening hatches to each side on the main deck for the tenders to launch. If you look closely at the photo above, you can see one of the hatches, just forward of the aft deck. When the toys are offloaded, those same areas can serve the owner’s party as extra aeries over the sea.
Atlante, with a 33’5” (10.2-meter) beam, also shows off a softer side in her bow shape, somewhat rounded at the peak. Then there are the floor-to-ceiling panes of glass lining the main deck and upper decks.
CRN will perform sea trials and final fit out in the coming weeks. Atlante is expected to top out at 15 knots and cruise at 14 knots. Power comes from twin Caterpillar engines.
