Come July, the owner of Azamanta, christened last week at Heesen Yachts, will be enjoying his maiden cruise. The 180-foot (55-meter) Azamanta is the Dutch yard’s latest Fast Displacement launch.
In fact, Azamanta is both Heesen’s largest Fast Displacement megayacht and the world’s largest such project. (Set to surpass her next year, however, is project Kometa, a 230-footer, or 70-meter, in build at Heesen.) The Fast Displacement steel hull was engineered by Van Oossanen Naval Architects to permit a 16½-knot top end and 13-knot cruise. That cruise speed should allow a 4,500-nautical-mile range.
The owner intends to put the range to good use. Azamanta has reinforced hull sections for navigating in ice in the upper polar regions. Ten guests can join him for these travels. Whether they bundle up to stay outside or take in the views inside through the large ports, Azamanta gives them several places to spread out and relax. One of the best: the owner’s private terrace. At nearly 75 square feet (70 square meters), it has three settees situated around a dining table fully forward on the main deck. Imagine the views from here, or the owner’s balcony to starboard, as Azamanta approaches a glacier, or a sun-soaked shore.
As you’d expect, Azamanta also has a beach club, all guest staterooms (one VIP, two doubles, and two twins) below decks, a tender garage (forward, with gullwing doors), and a capacious sundeck. The 1,184-square-foot (110-square-meter) sundeck does hold a surprise, however. Come nighttime, this space aboard Azamanta can become a mini nightclub. The hot tub gets topped by a protective platform for musicians to use. Azamanta further has a high-end sound system to set the right scene.
Setting the right scene inside, Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design incorporated flora and fauna motifs with Art Deco elements, as per the owner’s wishes. Dark woods, light fabrics, and different wall mosaics in each of the guest heads are among the decor highlights.
