A yacht carrying a powerful name should have a powerful presence, no? Witness Intensity, a concept ready to be built by Abeking & Rasmussen.
Intensity measures 291 feet (88.8 meters), with a 41-foot (12.6-meter) beam. She can start construction soon after contract signing because she’s based on the engineering plans of Kibo, a 268-footer (81.8-meter) the German yard delivered last year.
Even with the similar engineering platform, Intensity looks nothing like Kibo. Kibo’s looks are in keeping with those of a traditional megayacht. In contrast, Intensity is far bolder. Surely, the first thing you notice is the seemingly all-glass superstructure. Panes of glass wrap around the fore and aft superstructure sections, plus rise two decks high in some areas aboard Intensity. The area behind it could be an atrium, with a spiral stairway, similar to what has been seen aboard other megayachts. But really, Intensity can feature pretty much whatever a buyer wants here. Andrew Winch Designs, responsible for the styling and interior design, will obviously customize Intensity to a buyer’s wishes.
Also note the nearly plumb bow and rounded after sections. These features envelop a layout that can accommodate 14 in the owners’ party and 23 crew. Intensity further includes a helipad, handy for arrivals and departures when the yacht is at anchor. (With a draft of 11 feet, or 3.45 meters, Intensity will be capable of turning deep-water anchorages into private playgrounds.)
