More than a dozen sailing superyachts are set to race in the sixth edition of the Perini Navi Cup, from September 2 to 5.
The Perini Navi Cup was first held in 2004, as a way for Participants will compete off the shores of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Sardinia. They mostly represent a mix of ketches and rigs. Some are repeat racers in the Perini Navi Cup, while others are coming for the first time. All of the yachts are built by Perini Navi.
So far, the Perini Navi Cup registrants include:

- Clan VIII: sloop
- Elettra: sloop
- Ellen: ketch
- Jasali: ketch
- P2: sloop
- Rosehearty: ketch
- Spirit of the C’s: ketch
- Squall: sloop
- Xnoi: sloop
- Maltese Falcon: clipper
- Seahawk: ketch
- Perseus^3: sloop
It’s interesting to note that some of the Perini Navi Cup participants carry their owners onboard. One additionally interesting note for this year’s regatta: A charter client from China will be aboard Maltese Falcon.
The Perini Navi Cup is using the new Offshore Racing Council superyacht rule (ORCsy). Created just last year, the ORCsy addresses the handicapping challenge of having various sailing superyacht types, sizes, and shapes. Of course, plenty of social events are planned post-racing. The Perini family is additionally using the Perini Navi Cup to make guests aware of a charity program they support. It’s the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, which provides medical care to children in Haiti.
