Two custom Benetti megayachts, two entirely different styles. That’s what you’ll see with Formosa and 11/11 on display at September’s Monaco Yacht Show.
For you traditionalists, the 197-foot (60-meter) Formosa should catch your eye. Since she’s styled entirely in-house, she bears a Benetti family resemblance. The shipyard’s team handled naval architecture as well. Formosa should have a 5,000-nautical-mile range at a 12-knot cruise, under MTU power, which is further traditional. Inside Formosa’s five decks, you’ll find a general arrangement popular with many megayacht owners. Ten guests are accommodated below decks, while the owners have a large suite occupying its own private deck. Formosa is attended to by a crew of 14, plus the captain. Interesting enough, Benetti’s in-house department handled the interior design for them. Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design took care of the owners’ and guests’ relaxation areas.
At 207 feet (63 meters), 11/11 surely stands out for having an unusual nameplate, as she does for having a vertical bow. Further sure to attract attention: 46 underwater lights. The spectacle continues inside, apparently. We don’t have illustrations or photos, but the decor of 11/11 is reportedly different than what is typically seen. There are even two master suites, one on the upper deck with direct access to a pool and an enclosed sunroom. Though sea trials are ongoing, Benetti expects 11/11 to regularly top out around 17 knots under Caterpillar power.
There is actually a third yacht that will be part of Benetti’s display at the show. She is the third Veloce 140, christened simply H. However, the first yacht in the series, Cheers 46, premiered stateside last year, so this is solely the Veloce 140’s European debut. Benetti has incorporated a wave-piercing bow for increased fuel efficiency and performance. The yard claims fuel burn and speed have each improved by 10 percent.
