Gentlemen, start your engines. Briggs Automotive Company’s (BAC) Mono, a single-seat street-legal supercar boasting speeds exceeding 170 mph, will soon be able to be hoisted onto your deck. BAC has partnered with Camper & Nicholsons to create a Marine Edition Mono.
UK-based BAC was established five years ago to target supercar aficionados who want an even closer connection to the road and overall driving experience. You’re seated just 4.3 inches (110 millimeters) above the road. Besides the above-mentioned blistering speed, the lightweight Mono reportedly can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds.
Interesting enough, BAC’s co-founder and director of design, Ian Briggs, got his start in yacht design. He and his brother, his fellow co-founder, have kept an open mind about joint ventures since shortly after establishing the company. “I started my career in the luxury yacht-design field and have always wanted to combine my love of marine and automotive design,” he states. “The Marine Edition Mono represents the ultimate drive-and-arrive experience with great purity of purpose and style.”
Because weight is an issue for megayachts, the Marine Edition Mono will be 1,279 pounds (580 kilograms). Furthermore, your yacht’s existing davits will be able to lift and lower the Marine Edition Mono. “We have an opportunity here to bring something unique, functionally pure, exciting, and even practical on the level of weight optimization,” Briggs says.
Further practical: an Environmental Control Container System to use for stowing the supercar onboard. As the name suggests, it will be temperature- and humidity-controlled. The Marine Edition Mono will additionally have anti-corrosive components.
Since the original Mono packs a power punch, so, too, will the Marine Edition Mono. You’ll find a 305-hp Mountune 2.5-liter engine and a Hewland FTR gearbox, the latter used in Formula 3 cars.
Finally, here’s the fun part: The Marine Edition Mono can be customized inside and outside to complement your superyacht’s styling and color scheme and, of course, your tastes.
Camper & Nicholsons plans to have a BAC Mono Marine Edition on display at upcoming events to further entice buyers.
