If you’re a social media user, no doubt you’ve seen some crazy—and funny—topics suddenly start trending. Today is one of those days for us. The hashtag #CelebBoatNames began trending in the United States earlier this afternoon. And well, we couldn’t resist sharing some of the best posts.
First, some background. The #CelebBoatNames trend was started by the team behind a YouTube show called The Midweek Minute, which covers pop-culture happenings. The Midweek Minute comes up with creative hashtags week after week to stimulate ongoing discussions about the subjects of its shows. #CelebBoatNames was inspired by a video that Lindsay Lohan had posted last weekend of herself, in her underwear, doing a split and then dancing aboard a megayacht off St. Tropez. (She also posted a photo of herself doing a backbend, again in her underwear, but we decided the picture above, which Lohan also shared of herself aboard the same yacht, was a bit more, shall we say, tasteful.) Well, within two hours of asking its YouTube viewers and Twitter followers to imagine the names of yachts owned by celebrities, hundreds of hilarious tweets started being posted. And posted. And posted.
They continue as you’re reading this. #CelebBoatNames include: Winona Waverider, Surf Reynolds, Reese Witherschooner, Ringo Starboard, and Russell Crowsnest.
In case you don’t use Twitter, we’ve assembled a few of our favorite #CelebBoatNames posts.
