Limassol Marina expected to serve as an attractive Eastern Med destination when it opened in 2013. Indeed, Cyprus’ first facility to accommodate megayachts welcomed the 248-foot (75.5-meter) Anastasia as its first super-size visitor. Since then, the power and sailing superyachts have continued to come. Even with 2015 still not over, Limassol Marina has seen an increase in business of more than 200 percent.
Actually, the exact percentage is far higher. So far this year, Limassol Marina has welcomed 30 new megayacht visitors. They are in addition to the handful whose contracts rolled over from last year. Those roll-overs were among a total of 16 megayachts that reserved berths in 2014.
Regardless of the percentage, Limassol Marina has also seen the size of visitors increase. When Anastasia arrived in 2013, she was the largest yacht to visit the historic city of Limassol, Cyprus. In 2014, the biggest visitor was 318 feet (97 meters). So far this year, the 325-foot (99-meter) Madame Gu and 390-foot (119-meter) motoryacht A have been the largest slip takers.
A combination of permanent and transient berths for megayachts are among the 650 total slips that Limassol Marina has available. As the megayachts mentioned above reveal, the facility can accommodate the biggest deliveries around. Further making it attractive are a spa, villas that come with private berths, dozens of shops, and 14 restaurants, cafes, and bars. More shopping and dining await in the old city, walking distance away. And, knowing it’s operated and managed by Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, in partnership with Francoudi & Stephanou Marinas, captains and owners have peace of mind. As Capt. Christopher Walsh of the 222-foot (67.75-meter) Archimedes says, “Not only are the staff and facilities first rate, but the surrounding area presented a myriad of safe and wonderful opportunities to experience the fine cuisine, history, and natural beauty of Cyprus.” He added that the owners and crew looked forward to visiting again.
Even though the Med is often considered solely a summer destination, Limassol Marina is still seeing yachts arriving. So far this month, Madame Gu, motoryacht A, the 290-foot (88.5-meter) Nirvana, and 238-foot (72.6-meter) Queen K have stopped in.
