Palma de Mallorca, Spain is known throughout yachting for its strong megayacht service sector. It’s growing as a cruising and charter destination, too. The next edition of the Palma Superyacht Show intends to capitalize on that.
Focused on brokerage and charter megayachts, the Palma Superyacht Show debuted in 2013. It’s far more intimate than the other major megayacht shows. Furthermore, it has had a strong balance of power and sailing yachts. In fact, in 2014, half of the 56 yachts on display were sailing yachts. The ratio was about the same for the 62 yachts in the water last year.
The third edition of the Palma Superyacht Show is set for April 28 through May 2. The organizers state that 95 percent of the exhibitors from 2015 will be present again. These include brokerage and charter firms like Burgess, Camper & Nicholsons, and Fraser Yachts. They also include refit specialists like Astilleros de Mallorca and Huisfit, a division of Royal Huisman.
Concurrent with the Palma Superyacht Show, there will be a series of panel discussions for captains and owners’ representatives. The Quaynote Palma Superyacht Conference will run April 28 and 29, followed by a golf and networking day. One presentation will focus on career-path planning, healthcare, and social security issues for captains and crew. Other topics include the latest charter regulations, and new environmental-oriented developments in superyacht technology. All Quaynote conference attendees will receive complimentary VIP passes to the Palma Superyacht Show, too.
