Seeking a tender to turn heads? The Paragon SuperSport 28 from Carbon Marine may do the trick. It purposely shows off the carbon fiber from which its hull is built. And it pledges to be wickedly fast.
Carbon Marine, a tender builder based in Canada, claims the Paragon SuperSport 28 is the first production boat with visible carbon fiber construction. The materials choice is an engineering one, not just aesthetic. Carbon fiber is renowned for its weight savings and strength. Those can translate to better performance. The Paragon SuperSport 28 is said to exceed 75 mph, powered by a 627-hp Seven Marine supercharged V8 outboard. (Seven Marine made history a few years ago with its 557-hp outboard, the most powerful one ever. It’s one-upped itself with the 627.) Even at slower speeds, the tender should see a range approaching 300 miles. Either way, surely the boat can whisk guests to and from shore, plus around all sorts of bays all afternoon long. Those bays can be pretty shallow, too, given a two-foot (0.6-meter) draft.
The Paragon SuperSport 28 is, as the name suggests, 28 feet (8.5 meters) LOA. It has an 8’4” (2.6-meter) beam and can carry 11 people. Base price: $294,000.
You can get your first look at the tender during the Miami International Boat Show next month. In fact, it will be in the water, at slip 560 at the Miami Marine Stadium Park and Basin. The show runs from February 11 to 15.
