A Minnesota-based boatbuilder has collaborated with Sigmund Yacht Design for an all-electric boat that should appeal as a tender and to small-boat owners alike. She’s the Six-1 Conductor, built by Symphony Boat Company. LOA: 20’1” (6.1 meters).
The Six-1 Conductor is powered by an electric engine by Torqeedo, a company focused on electric propulsion. It delivers 66 kW at its peak, reportedly the equivalent of 80 hp. The boat is said to be capable of running at 24 mph—the full speed under full load—for about half an hour. Full load includes six passengers and gear up to a combined 1,200 pounds. Off plane and under full load, Symphony says the Six-1 Conductor can run up to eight hours. No matter the speed, the boat is super-quiet. (Check out this YouTube video of test trials.)
Symphony Boat Company and Sigmund Yacht Design developed the Six-1 Conductor with an eco-oriented company: Lamboo. Lamboo which provides engineered bamboo for architects, engineers, and more worldwide, including yacht designers and builders. (Sigmund Yacht Design collaborated with Lamboo on another tender concept a few years ago. It was never built, however.) “Partnering with Lamboo gave us one of the best renewable resources and the Lamboo technology created a beautiful grain and amazing strength to build our boats,” says Marcel LaFond, owner of Symphony. Lamboo’s bamboo is used as exterior veneer and structural components in the hull, along with marine-grade plywood and aluminum.
The Six-1 Conductor has a tender-garage-friendly beam of 8’2” (2.5 meters). Full-load draft is 33 inches (0.88 meter), and dry weight with controls, charger, electric motor, and two high-voltage batteries is 2,180 pounds. The boat comes with niceties like a stereo, which additionally has a Bluetooth connection for your smartphone. Standard helpful accessories include lifting eyes. You can opt for a full deck cover and even request some custom modifications to the Six-1 Conductor.
The boat will be in the water at next month’s Miami International Boat Show, at Torqeedo’s display.
