A week after Christensen Shipyards launched Silver Lining, Chasseur has now followed.
Chasseur measures the same length as Silver Lining, that being 164 feet (50 meters). The two also share the same beam, that being 29’5” (9 meters). But, being a custom megayacht, she has her own personality and style. Her silver hull paint is the first hint. As for her interior design, that, too, is different. It’s far lighter in tone, with bleached sycamore used as paneling. Chasseur also uses rosewood as accents throughout her decks, plus semi-precious stone. Overall, the look and feel is contemporary, and should make the beam seem airy. From a technical perspective, further impacting interior design, Chasseur is compliant with MCA requirements.
Also on a technical note, Christensen used the same new launch system for Chasseur as Silver Lining. Christensen’s chairman, Henry Luken, developed it, and the in-house craftspeople constructed it. Nicknamed the “Luken Launcher,” it’s a steel trailer with fiberglass flotation boxes on each side. Those fill with water as the megayacht (secure in a cradle) and trailer slowly enter the water. The goal is to ensure extra stability and safety even when in low-water situations. As the launch proceeds, the yacht and cradle float. Water flows into the boxes, making the system similar to a drydock.
Chasseur is set for delivery in August, so sea trials start soon. Expect speeds in the mid-teens. After delivery, she’ll point her bow toward Florida. She’ll join Silver Lining at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show come November. Charter bookings in the Caribbean come wintertime are also on her agenda.
