The owners of Black Gold may feel as if they’ve struck it rich. So, too, should Westport Yachts, given that Black Gold is the first launch in the new Westport 125 series.
The raised-pilothouse design is slightly smaller than a long-popular model from the Pacific Northwest builder. That model is the Westport 130; however, the 125 isn’t replacing her. Rather, the new yacht is an alternate way to step up in size, stemming directly from current client feedback. Westport came up with the design because owners of its two-level Westport 112 felt the trideck 130 was too big of a step up.
The owners of Black Gold have a main-deck master suite at their disposal. Four guest staterooms below decks accommodate friends and family. (Even though the Westport 125 is built on a production basis, there’s an alternate arrangement down here. A gym can replace a guest cabin.) The overall 26’2” (7.98-meter) beam should make the main and lower decks feel comfortable. In keeping with traditional motoryacht layouts, dining can take place aft on deck. A breakfast nook is additionally inside the galley, on the main deck.
No details or photos are available on the decor of Black Gold at this point. However, when the builder announced the project, it stated that sapele mahogany would be standard for guest areas and anigre or beech wood would line crew spaces. Westport allow owners to work with the designer of their choice or the shipyard’s in-house design department.
Sea trials should confirm speeds upwards of 20 knots. Black Gold is powered by twin 2,600-hp MTU diesels. Westport estimates best range around 12 knots: 2,500 nautical miles.
Look for Black Gold to make her formal debut at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this November. In the meantime, more Westport 125s are under contract.

Wow, this yacht is soooo beautiful. Can’t even imagine how expensive it is. Any thoughts?

Since buyers can tailor aspects of the 125 to their liking, costs can vary, but $18.5 million is the published price to start a new one.

I installed all of the custom stone work on this boat. I can tell you it is exquisite inside. The boat is a fantastic blend of the other available Westport models. Hull no 2 is currently underway!
