A number of yacht builders also service their own craft. But if the yard isn’t entirely convenient to the preferred cruising grounds, it can pose a predicament. A new partnership between Canados and the service shipyard Tecnopool solves that issue, plus comes with additional benefits for both parties.
Canados, with headquarters in Rome, sees many of its clients enjoying cruising in the Med. Tecnopool is up the coast in Viareggio, renowned for its yachting history. That, plus the physical location at the Darsena there, makes it ideal to perform refit and maintenance tasks. The maximum size it handles: 115 feet (35 meters). Furthermore, Technopool has agreements with other service yards throughout the Med. Regardless of the site, the company assigns its own project managers to oversee service.
The partnership between Canados and Tecnopool has an additional interesting benefit. Canados now becomes one of the latter’s preferred refit and maintenance partners. It will handle clients’ needs from the Argentario region in Tuscany down to the Gulf of Naples. Particularly important, Canados will cater to Tecnopool clients throughout Rome. These clients reportedly could not find a proper facility for their needs.
For Tecnopool’s CEO, Giorgio Campini, the partnership has personal significance, too. “I remember going to the Canados shipyard with my father during school holidays when I was a kid, as he was one of their suppliers,” he explains. He fondly recalls seeing nearly all aspects of construction done in house back then. Upon learning his longtime acquaintance Michel Karsenti bought Canados several months ago, he went back for a visit. “I was thrilled to see that the DNA of Canados that has been known for 70 years has not been abandoned, but to the contrary, even reinforced,” Campini says.
