Revived by a fellow Italian company, ISA Yachts is returning to the megayacht business. New builds plus refit and repair are on its agenda.
ISA Yachts delivered 33 projects between 98 and 217 feet (30 and 66 meters) over its 14-year history, before closing its doors in 2015. It sought protection against creditors, to avoid bankruptcy, in May 2015, but entered liquidation later that summer. Palumbo Group, which builds the Columbus Yachts brand and offers refits, acquired ISA Yachts’ brand and assets this past June. Nearly three months later, Palumbo Group received approval of a 30-year lease of the state-owned land upon which ISA Yachts operated. The site is in Ancona.
Palumbo Group has two primary roles planned for the location. One is refit and repair of a variety of megayachts, regardless of who originally built them. The other: ISA Yachts will build all Columbus Yachts projects, as well as projects under its own brand. The former include the Columbus Sport Hybrid series. They also include seven other Columbus Yachts series, including one created for the American market. It’s Oceanic Coupe, featuring aluminum construction and semi-displacement hulls. The six remaining series span a range of styles, like explorers.
The models that helped ISA Yachts gain international attention, though, are certainly of interest, too. They include the ISA Sport, an all-fiberglass open. Silver Wind is among these. The ISA Granturismo models are back as well. These are steel-hulled displacement megayachts that offer more alfresco areas than other displacement projects, without sacrificing interior areas. Okto is likely the most well-known Granturismo. Then, there’s ISA Classic, another steel series. It spawned deliveries like Mary Jane, reflecting traditional motoryacht styling and arrangements.
Furthermore, ISA Yachts has an entirely new series, called ISA Super Sport. These are all-fiberglass projects similar to the original ISA Sport series, but with a different stylist. Marco Casali – Too Design created the lines for the ISA Super Sport 121 seen at top. There’s also a Super Sport 141 in the works.
