Late this spring, Bilgin Yachts will move not just its headquarters, but also two of its four megayachts in build into a new location.
Long operating in Istanbul, Bilgin Yachts began construction of larger facilities last year. Located in West Istanbul Marina, they are about 20 minutes from the international airport. Comprising more than 107,600 square feet, the two new outfitting sheds open this spring. Once all operations are fully functional, the two biggest projects in build make the move, too.
Those two are hulls one and two of the Bilgin 263 series (top). Last year, the Turkish shipyard started construction on both, though several months apart. It sold the first hull to a repeat client back in October 2015. She started construction in early 2016. Of note, the yacht is the owner’s third project from the shipyard. Meanwhile, Bilgin Yachts started Bilgin 263-II, as it calls the second hull, on spec. A client signed a contract in November. As of press time, the first 263 has a 75-percent complete-hull and an early-stage superstructure. As for Bilgin 263-II, she has a 50-percent-complete hull. Both boats are set for hand-over in 2019.
Remaining in place is the furniture factory established in April 2016. It makes all woodwork, except for loose furnishings, for new builds and refits. The factory comprises more than 53,800 square feet.
Bilgin has not mentioned moving two of its other projects in build, though. They’re the first two members of the Bilgin 156 series (above). Both yachts started on spec, featuring design work by Unique Yacht Design. The same studio is responsible for the 263’s naval architecture and styling. More than half of the 156-1 is complete, with delivery set for late this spring. With 25 percent of the 156-II finished, Bilgin Yachts anticipates delivery toward the end of the year.
Both yachts still offer a buyer the ability to personalize the interiors, though to different extents. The shipyard partnered with H2 Yacht Design to create the general arrangement and an initial decor package. Four guest staterooms join the owner’s suite among the accommodations. Niceties like a pool are included, too.
