Hatteras Yachts has longtime strength in the sportfisherman sector. But it also offers traditional cruisers up to 100 feet LOA. Its semi-custom range expands this summer with the debut of the Hatteras 90 Motor Yacht. Furthermore, for you hands-on owners, the model marks the debut of the HattCON ship-management system. It offers the systems integration typically found aboard larger megayachts.
The Hatteras 90 Motor Yacht, available with either an open or enclosed flying bridge, houses all eight guests below decks. As you’d expect for privacy, the crew area, aft of the engine room, has separate access. Actually, it has two dedicated entrances. One comes via the transom, while the other is an aft-deck door.
Keeping all guests below decks lets the 90 Motor Yacht reserve more main-deck space for socializing. Hatteras has two different configurations for the main deck as well. In the first, the more traditional layout, the saloon and dining area sit aft, with the galley forward. Alternately, you can have an amidships galley and aft dining area. This, in turn, shifts the saloon fully forward, making it more private, even indulgent. Regardless of your choice, there’s yet another option: fold-down balconies, accessed via sliding glass doors, as seen above.
More choices await outside. The 90 Motor Yacht has a flexible foredeck layout. Sun worshippers will want the option with a sunpad accompanying a settee and cocktail table. Otherwise, the megayacht has facing settees with a table. Up on the flying bridge, everyone can dine together and enjoy cocktails from the nearby bar. In the enclosed-bridge version, the helm is naturally inside. It benefits from shade thanks to a hardtop on the open-bridge version.
As for HattCON, it integrates both operational systems as well as comfort-related ones. A handful of touchscreens at the helm display whatever information you wish. This includes everything from genset status and tank-level displays to navigation and engine data. Equally important, Hatteras and its maritime-engineering partner created HattCON with a dashboard control, for use in rough seas. (If you’ve ever tried using a mobile phone or tablet on a moving vehicle, you know the challenge, and frustration.)
Additional HattCON displays go in the galley and crew’s quarters. Furthermore, smaller, auto-dimming touchscreens are on walls in staterooms and other guest areas. Your guests get control over lighting and room temperature, for example. On request, the system can let you operate window blinds, too. Finally, HattCON comes with an iPhone- and iPad-compatible app, for additional convenience.
