MEGAYACHT NEWS: REAL STORIES OF REAL INTEREST
Megayacht News is the leader among independent Web sites devoted to luxury yachts. It has a decided emphasis on information of interest to American owners, buyers, and their representatives.
Megayacht News features original content, not copied and pasted press releases. This is among the reasons why it is so highly valued and enjoys monthly traffic of more than 40,000 page views.* Megayacht News has an innovative, multi-faceted approach that includes daily original news articles, videos, slideshows, and more. Topics include new launches, design proposals, luxury yachting events, marina developments, and interviews with owners. Of particular interest is the popular “Leadership Series,” featuring Q&As with noteworthy builders, designers, and others in the yachting industry. The Leadership Series helps owners and their representatives make better informed decisions when it comes to commissioning and using their yachts.
Megayacht News was named to The Helium Report’s (now Halogen Guides’) best yacht blogs list, and it’s the go-to source for Reuters, CNBC, Forbes.com, The Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, The Sunday Times, CNN.com, and others.
Further underscoring the strength of the editorial focus and the readership reach, an average of one story per week was syndicated by Superyacht Business magazine in its e-newsletter from 2010 to 2012. Two stories each month were also syndicated on Yachting magazine’s website in 2012. In addition, through most of 2010, the full daily Megayacht News feed was syndicated by YachtWorld.com and Boats.com. Megayacht News is the only site to enjoy all of these relationships.
THE MEGAYACHT NEWS APP: UNIQUE IN THE INDUSTRY
In November 2013, the Megayacht News app was released. Available for free for all Android and Apple devices, the Megayacht News app provides users with an experience they cannot get elsewhere. The few megayacht-oriented apps that currently exist replicate all or nearly all of the same content contained on their other platforms. The Megayacht News app does not. It emphasizes original features, like interactive photo galleries and videos, which are among the most popular mobile viewing and engagement activities. It also includes informational resources that let users directly connect with the top yacht builders, designers, and more. New features are added on a regular basis as well.
Megayacht News was founded in 2007 by Diane M. Byrne (left), one of the best-known and highly respected yachting journalists worldwide. She continues to operate the site today, overseeing all aspects of content creation and design. She has been covering megayachts since 1993 and is closely involved with the leading professional organizations not just in the yachting field, but also in journalism and entrepreneurship:
- a longtime International Superyacht Society member, joining the organization in 1995; since 2010, she has served on the Board of Directors
- a founding member of the United States Superyacht Association
- since 2003, an active member of the Association for Women in Communications, which presented her with a prestigious Clarion Award for Best Feature Writing
- since 2012, an active member of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners.
In 2012, Megayacht News welcomed Capt. Tork Buckley as a contributor, until his untimely death late that year. Also in 2012, Megayacht News was pleased to add well-known yachting journalists Frances and Michael Howorth to our regular team of contributors. Megayacht News additionally features guest posts by leading representatives in other yachting media as well as the yachting industry.
