Megayacht News Radio: Dean C. Klevan, International SeaKeepers Society

Given that today is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, I can think of no better or more appropriate post than one concerning the environment. I’ve featured the International SeaKeepers Society here on Megayacht News a few times before, discussing its efforts as a guardian of the ocean and its recent partnering with Yachts International magazine to create five global events. Recently, the Society announced the appointment of Dean C. Klevan as the president and CEO. His vast experience in the financial business world, plus his personal passion for the ocean, should help the Society achieve further success, as you’ll find out in this brief podcast I recorded with him this week.

Megayacht News Radio: Joe Artese

Joe Artese of Joseph Artese Design makes a confession in today’s podcast: He prefers sailing yachts over motoryachts. A sailor at heart, he can’t help himself. That’s not to say that he hasn’t enjoyed working on various motoryacht projects over the years, including the refit of Suri, the refit of Alucia, and the design of the new build Miss Lisa. He discusses these and more about how he strives to give owners what they want in this interview.

Megayacht News Radio: Bruce Johnson, Sparkman & Stephens

Plenty of people change careers. Imagine if Bruce Johnson hadn’t left the automotive field to pursue yacht design. He never would have become president and chef designer of Sparkman & Stephens, arguably the most famous naval architecture firm in the world. In fact, the company has designed more than 2,700 vessels, ranging from superyachts to military craft, both power and sail. Johnson personally has overseen a variety of different designs, from small wooden boats to replicas of famous sailing yachts that S&S designed in years past. In this podcast, he talks about his years of working with the late Olin Stephens, how clients are sometimes more knowledgeable about practical things than designers are, and what opportunities he sees for the near future.
