May 2013 Motoryacht of the Month: ISA’s Mary-Jean II

ISA-Mary-Jean-IIThis month, Italy-based ISA celebrates its 12th anniversary, plus the opening of its first-ever North American sales office, headed by yachting industry veteran Edward Sacks. In those 12 years, ISA has delivered a wide range of custom craft, including the 197-foot (60-meter) megayacht Mary-Jean II, handed over in 2010. What makes Mary-Jean II special is how ISA embraced the particular requirements of the owners, who were well versed in the charter market yet interesting enough were building a fully custom megayacht for the first time.

There are some wonderful twists on the typical megayacht arrangement aboard Mary-Jean II, such as one more stateroom than you’d expect to find, and a comfortable, fun atmosphere thanks to the work of the owners and interior designer Mark Berryman. In fact, half the fun is walking around the teak-paneled rooms and trying to identify the spectacular artwork by Peter Blake, Andy Warhol, Lichtenstein, and others.

NISI Yachts

NISI Yachts may be among the youngest players in the yacht and megayacht market, having been founded just seven years ago, but it has more than done its homework. The company assembled some of the industry’s top designers, naval architects, engineers, and more to ensure that the NISI range, from 58 to 86 feet (17 to 26 meters), rivals the quality found from other, long-established builders. To wit, the NISI 2400 is the only megayacht of less than 100 feet LOA to meet both RINA Commercial Class and MCA requirements, plus won a prestigious International Superyacht Society Design Award in 2011.
This video takes you behind the scenes with some of the key players making NISI Yachts attractive to yacht buyers on both sides of the Atlantic.

April 2013 Sailing Yacht of the Month: Alloy Yachts’ Catalyst

Alloy Yachts CatalystSince delivery in 1995 by Alloy Yachts, Catalyst has done extensive cruising on both sides of the Atlantic. At 92 feet (28 meters), she’s smaller than today’s world travelers, but no less capable. Her owners handed Alloy Yachts and naval architect Ron Holland an exacting brief, which included “flawless” joinery throughout her interior.

Did the team succeed? You could say so, considering the owners commissioned a second sailing superyacht project from Alloy Yachts and Holland, namely the 110-foot Charlatan. Here’s why the owners were so pleased with Catalyst (which is also available for sale as of this writing).
