Serenity, the 133-foot (40.4-meter) megayacht depicted here, is about six months into construction at IAG Yachts. She’s the latest project for the China-based megayacht builder, and she was commissioned by an American buyer. In fact, Serenity is for the owner who took delivery of a same-named 116-foot (35.4-meter) Lazzara in 2008 and has been using her ever since.
IAG Yachts terms the megayacht a Noble Star Terrazza model, for two reasons. First, Serenity is similar in profile to the Noble Star 140 series being offered by IAG Yachts. Both bear styling by Evan K. Marshall. “Terrazza” is part of the megayacht model’s name due to permanent balconies. You can see one forward on the main deck and the other farther aft on the deck above. The balcony feature was incorporated at the request of the owner.
Like her predecessor, the six-stateroom Serenity will serve her owner’s family and charter guests. IAG Yachts is building the Noble Star Terrazza to RINA’s Charter Class, with naval architecture by Axis Group Yacht Design. Marshall is additionally working with the owner on the interior. Beam is a comfortable 26’5” (about 8.1 meters).
IAG Yachts is employing resin-infusion construction to save weight. That, of course, should also translate to better performance. IAG Yachts anticipates Serenity seeing a 2,600-mile range at 12 knots with Caterpillar C32 engines. She should also enjoy many different anchorages due to a shallow-water-friendly seven-foot (2.1-meter) draft at half load.
This first Noble Star Terrazza is set for delivery in 2015.
In other IAG Yachts news, the first in its Noble Star series is making progress. The hull of the 140-foot (42.7-meter) fiberglass megayacht emerged from its mold in August. Delivery to her American owner is expected by the end of next year. She’s expected to be christened King Baby.
