Elegance meets contemporary élan aboard this 62-meter yacht, as the two design studios involved reveal more particulars.
CRN has recently released some initial details about M/Y 138, which has been a work in progress at the yard. This new one-off 62-meter yacht features flowing, sporty hull lines, while an inimitable zest for the onboard lifestyle imbues her indoor living areas.
We wanted to deepen the concept and the inspirations behind this unique creation by speaking with the two protagonists of this new megayacht: Omega Architects, which shaped the external lines, and Pulina Exclusive Interiors, which is creating the interiors.
Frank Laupman, head of Dutch design studio Omega Architects, spoke about the inspiration behind the exterior lines:
Her genesis is a synthesis of different ideas and projects realized closely with CRN. After completion of Yalla, we were asked to develop a series of three designs ranging from 56 meters to 75 meters, which we named Ocean Sports, and, for a specific client, we made an “evolution” of this line into this new 62-meter.
This is why the iconic profile of the new CRN M/Y 138 clearly reveals a member of the Ocean Sport line, but with its own unique character, as the yacht is entirely personalised and built throughout to the owner’s vision.
This new Omega Architects’ five-deck motoryacht stands out for an elegant superstructure design, featuring a long arch stretched to the very end of the hull. The arch provides privacy on the aft deck, and her nearly vertical bow emphasizes the oceangoing reputation of CRN, stately exploring the world.
This new fully custom yacht skilfully combines the infinitely large—huge size and impressive performances—and the infinitely small, in the form of precious, functional details.
Alessandro Pulina, architect, designer, and founder of Pulina Exclusive Interiors, described his idea of contemporary design related to the interiors of new CRN M/Y 138:
Contemporary and timeless, the interiors of M/Y 138 embody styles and designs stemming from a wide range of influences. The idea behind the project is constructed upon the expressiveness of forms and lines to create a unique sensation of exclusivity and sophistication onboard. A yacht able to offer everything without compromise. The wide range of materials combined is able to bring out contrasts and uniformities to give dynamics to the spaces. This is the key to read these interiors, where any element is precisely combined to appreciate any detail, from the design of the walls to the fitting out, which reflects a contemporary taste of living, where comfort is accompanied by a meticulous selection of materials, always luxurious and elegant. The color palette recalls natural nuances: sand, ivory, and ecru to shift the focus on the elements of design.
The most disruptive expression of this yacht is represented by the salon on the main deck. In this environment are enclosed all the stylistic and iconic elements of the yacht interior design. The layout is designed to enhance both the spaces and their use, and the design of the walls, a game of sinuous alternations between the rigidity of the staves and the voluptuousness of the paneling curves.
From the main salon to the owner’s suite, the interiors represent in every detail the perfect blend of refined and elegant luxury in materials and the disruptive modernity of lines and shapes in the spaces.
