A wise person once said that music soothes the soul. It is soothing so many souls in these days of social isolation. For those of you who miss being out on the water, here’s a dose of medicine for your soul: the beautiful music of Nikki Glenn, a.k.a. the Yacht Violinist.
With clients ranging from private individuals to well-known yacht builders and brands like Ocean Alexander, Florida Yachts International, and YachtZoo, Glenn rightfully earned her nickname. Her skill, of course, played a large role, too. Her love of the violin dates back to childhood, when she saw the renowned performer Itzhak Perlman play on Sesame Street. While in college, Glenn became even more inspired to pursue a career as a violinist during a trip to see the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra rehearse.
With diverse genres like classical, jazz, and pop in her repertoire, Glenn has performed with blues rock bands in her home city of St. Louis, along with music powerhouses the Moody Blues and the Black Eyed Peas. Time and time again, though, she’s drawn to performing on superyachts.
So, too, are superyacht professionals drawn to her. In fact, Evan K. Marshall says, “her elegant style, both musically and personally, are the perfect complement to our designs, setting a relaxed and sophisticated mood for all our important launch parties for clients and journalists.”
Here, Glenn plays the famous song “What a Wonderful World,” made famous by Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong in 1967, and written specifically for him to sing. The clip is part of the online talent show Yachting’s Got Talent.
As you listen, we defy you not to sing the lyrics “I see skies of blue and clouds of white/The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night/And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.”
