After CRN delivered this new 62-meter beauty in July, Nuvolari-Lenard, the studio behind the interior and exterior design, explains the concept for this nautical work of art.
Voice is the latest fully custom steel and aluminum creation by CRN. Her powerful persona and unmistakably Italian aura reflect the owner’s single-minded character. She additionally stands out for her instantly recognizable lines and equally striking bespoke colors.
With five decks and an 11.5-meter beam, this yacht accommodates 12 guests in the owner’s suite and 5 VIP cabins. Her internal and external social spaces are large and remarkable. Further, they are ingeniously designed for enjoying convivial moments onboard in total privacy.
The owner has the upper deck all to himself and his family. Besides the master suite aft, at the bow a spacious saloon with a view leads to a sizeable area linked to the outside. It’s a perfect place to spend quality time for an indoor-outdoor experience of absolute comfort and relaxation.
To explore the thinking and the inspiration behind this unique creation, we spoke with Carlo Nuvolari, co-founder with Dan Lenard of the Italian architecture studio Nuvolari-Lenard, which devised the interior and exterior concept.
Q: For the exterior design, did the owner have a specific look in mind? Also, what was in his brief?
A: The owner came to us with a vision and a passion. He wanted a yacht that would represent him and make a lasting mark. It was paramount that the boat should be immediately recognizable “from a long way off” and, especially, that she should look to the future. Together with CRN, we spent many hours with the owner, his family, and team. We assimilated all the inspiring ideas that led us to Voice. That’s how it came together. And the result is a highly distinctive yacht with a potent personality and yet an exquisite balance among all her component elements.
Q: What do you feel are some of the yacht’s stand-out styling cues?
A: Voice has an exterior profile that immediately strikes the eye, creating a forceful, dynamic, sporty impression. But her signature feature is the long cadence of her lines. The gunwale swings along and down in a smooth, unbroken curve from bow to stern. This has been a visual hallmark of ours for many years.
Another notable aspect, courtesy of CRN’s in-depth expertise in designing and building tailor-made yachts, is the meticulous attention to the finest detail. As with every yacht that we have helped to make with CRN, Voice has been crafted with pinpoint precision. Some stainless steel fittings are real masterpieces.
Q: What presented the biggest challenge in creating this custom yacht?
A: The greatest but also the most compelling challenge was to arrive at a design with balance, where all the proportions combine in complete harmony. Sporty yachts are often fairly compact inside, but Voice is exceptional for her palatial, luminous interiors. Marrying these grand indoor spaces with the need for an eye-catching exterior layout with taut, fluid lines was the hardest task we faced.
