Delivered to her owner last December 2022, the 60-meter CRN M/Y Comfortably Numb is a stunning example of Italian craftsmanship, innovation, engineering, and naval architecture. Design and construction took place at the Ancona Superyacht Yard by CRN. The historic shipyard and Ferretti Group brand specializes in fully custom yachts up to 90 meters.
This all-aluminium superyacht is a highly innovative project. It provides an extraordinary personalized cruising experience, of course. Additionally, it blends CRN’s in-depth expertise and tireless commitment to R&D with the peerless Italian creativity of Nuvolari-Lenard. The design studio took care of the interior and exterior concept.
SPORTY AND SOPHISITICATED
With this unique project, the owner wanted to induce a sense of wonder and amazement in his guests. The sensations start from the taut, powerful, aerodynamic lines, which reflect an elegant and refined yet contemporary style. They evoke the sense of fluidity and speed typical of a modern sports car.
At 60.33 meters long with a beam of 10.55 meters and a volume of 1,114 GT, the CRN M/Y Comfortably Numb spans five decks. Amid them are accommodations for 12 guests, with 13 crewmembers providing an enviable quality of life with exceptional service. With her sophisticated design, this entirely bespoke pleasure yacht offers consummate comfort on the water. It applies even for long stays, at what for her size are unique speeds of over 25 knots. This is a high-performance superyacht with a modest enough draft to cruise in the shallow waters of the Caribbean. It’s partially courtesy of her in-line propellers, reflecting superlative standards of design-and-build excellence.
Other features additionally express CRN’s innovative naval architecture and advanced engineering and design solutions. For example, the vessel has a large engine room without compromising on large living spaces for the owner, guests and crew. Therefore, she assures extraordinary performance and supreme livability. Large, luminous indoor and outdoor spaces interconnect in masterful style, too. They create a strong sense of spaciousness, thanks further to full-height windows. They enable constant direct contact with the sea.
TECHNICAL PRECISION
To assure the sensational performance required in the contract in terms of weight and speed, this high-tech superyacht reflects a meticulous eye for materials. It extends to the awnings and finishings, for instance. Furthermore, when applying the teak and during the levelling stage, CRN firmly preferred lightweight materials like cork versus heavier alternatives.
Moreover, CRN’s specialist engineers and technical experts have devised a design using an extremely precise system of strain gauges. These constantly monitor the vessel’s weight and center of gravity via wifi. The two MTU 20V 4000 M93L engines—the first on a CRN yacht—power the vessel to a top speed over 25 knots and a cruising speed of 22.5. Assuring this level of pace demanded a huge effort from the engineers to optimize the design, calculating everything to considerable precision. The result is a supremely innovative, lightweight, high-performance superyacht.
The 60-meter CRN M/Y Comfortably Numb has IMO Tier III certification. Specifically, it employs an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. This ensures drastic reductions of up to 70 percent of harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in the engine exhaust.
